Tattoo designs are so personal. Have you ever thought about what design you would like to have on you body for the rest of your life? Let me tell, you I have. Now, I'm not as crazy as others, I only have a few. But, each time I went to get one, picking the right design was always difficult.
One of the first things that I had to decide is what I want my tattoo to symbolize. Do I want it to be about friendship, a death of a person close to me, love, or to show my personality. That can be one of the trickiest and most important decisions you make. I wanted to show the softer side of myself with a little feminism, but nothing over the top.
Wow, how on earth do you do that? The first thing that I decided was where I wanted my tattoo to be displayed. When choosing the right area, you have to ask yourself if you want it to be displayed all the time, or able to be covered for work purposes. The spot you choose is important to how your tattoo will look. I decided on the lower part of my back. Not for sexism mind you, but for the femininity of it.
After the choosing of placement, I wanted to find a design that would be perfect for me. I didn't want something gawky, tiny, or over the top. That is not the kind of person that I am. I found a couple of different designs that I liked. How? Magazines, the internet, and other photos helped me out. I'm not saying it was easy. It took several hours of looking to find out what I wanted. Patience is the key.
I found that not one single design was the right one. I wanted a heart from one design, leaves from another, and the vines from another. How in the world do I get this to look right? This is where a well rounded, excellent tattoo artist comes in handy. The artist should be able to cut and paste different pieces together to make your design just the way you want it. NEVER settle on something. Make sure that it is created to your liking. That way, you will never be disappointed.
Make sure you research the artist before you are locked in. He should be able to create the design that you are asking for. If he seems uneasy or unwilling to do what you ask, it might be time to rethink who does your design. Ask to see some of the work that he has done. They should be proud of the art they have done and be more than willing to share it. The artist that I found had several photo albums out on display for any customer to see.
Remember, your tattoo experience is supposed to be fun and exciting. Don't settle or rely on others to tell you what they like. This is something that you will have forever. Make it Unique to you and you will be very pleased. I know that I am.
